    Havana Sunsets

    “Our spin on a Paloma”

I traveled to Cuba many times in my early twenties and each night spent walking on the Malecon, Havana – a walkway at the water’s edge of the city. While the Malecon faces Northwest, you still get a pinch of the sunset wherein the colors from there disperse in a myriad of colors. The last night we were in Cuba, we all shared a bottle of Havana Club Rum, walking from one end to another, making that sunset surely unforgettable.

    .5 oz lime
.5 oz Paramour Cara Cara Orange Aperitif
    .5 oz agave
    Top with grapefruit and club

    The Long Goodbye

The Long Goodbye is a book penned by author, Raymond Chandler. Chandler writes the original gimlet was simply equal parts gin to lime rose liqueur in his novel. Chandler then, unbeknownst to him, popularized the drink in 1953 when he had the detective character famously say, “A real Gimlet is half gin and half Rose’s Lime Juice and nothing else.” With that, the Gimlet became an instant symbol for manliness, at the time. In our attempt to flip the script we’d like to consider it an instant symbol of being just plain ‘ol sexy – whoever you are.

    Ingredients

    2 oz. Whale Gin
2 oz. Paramour Hibiscus Rose Aperitif
1 oz. Fresh squeezed lime juice
    Garnish with a rose petal

    Nights in Red Satin Spritz

Popular song, Nights in White Satin, by the Moody Blue’s talks about nights that never reach an end. It’s about a man who is so in love he seeks to tell his love but is unable to ‘say anymore’. At the same time the song is also about love in general and as he observes love expressed between others, as he sees it on his long walks on Paris streets, where the video for the tune is filmed. I think we could all use, a Night in Red Satin.

    Ingredients

3.5 oz. Paramour Hibiscus Rose Aperitif
3 oz. Bubbles (Champagne or Prosecco)
    1 oz. Fresh Squeezed Lime

    Desert Rose

Desert Rose is a song by Sting. In thinking of the original name of the beverage, I was reminded of the desert and recalled this old song I’d recently heard by sting, called Desert Rose. “I dessert flower, la, la, no sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this.”

    The Scarlett Letter

““Our spin on the Bees Knees”

Bee conservation is one of our leading causes at Paramour and in our research of current day beekeeper’s and activists I found one of my favorite actresses is a bee enthusiast and a beekeeper in her own right. Scarlett Johannesen. However, there’s more behind the name: The Scarlet Letter, penned by Nathaniel Hawthorne is of a story of a woman, Hester Prynne, who has a child out of wedlock and must wear the scarlet letter, “A”, for adultery. Although the novel is a work of fiction, this drink is a gentle reminder of how far we’ve come, and how we’ve learned love can come in many forms

    2 oz gin
1 oz fresh squeezed orange juice
    .75 oz paramour lavender yuzu
